Obituary of Raymond J. Jacques

Raymond Joseph Jacques Jr., 67 of Augusta, passed away Friday January 4, 2019 from complications of his brave battle with Leukemia at MaineGeneral Medical Center / Alfond Health Center. He was born on March 29, 1951 to Raymond J. Jacques Sr. and Lucienne A. Jacques, in Augusta, ME. Ray graduated from Cony High School, in 1969. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy on September 9, 1969 and proudly served his country on USS CONE (DD-866). He received the National Defense Service Medal for his service during Vietnam Era. In August 1971, he was discharged honorably from the U.S. Navy. He moved back to the Augusta, Maine area. He learned in the Navy he had a passion for building engineering and focused his career on those skills. He helped manage the Digital Equipment Inc., Vassalboro Community School and Maine Municipal Association buildings, during his career. Ray was an avid sports enthusiast. He played competitive softball for much of his life. He had a true passion for the New York Yankees and Giants, Boston Celtics and Bruins and UMaine sports. He shared his passion for his favorite teams with his two sons Travis and Josh and enjoyed watching and discussing sports with them for the last 40 years. He was predeceased by his brothers Richard Jacques and Wilfred Jacques, and his mother Lucienne Jacques. Ray is survived by his children; Travis Jacques and Josh Jacques and his wife Rebecca; his sister Ann Gerald and her husband Greg, his father Raymond Jacques Sr. and ex-wife Elizabeth Jacques and her partner Peter Woodhouse. In addition, Ray touched many lives and friends, which he held dear. Per Ray's request there will be no visiting hours. In the spring, there will be a burial and memoriam of Rays life, at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
