Obituary of Dixie Leigh Hutchinson

ST. GEORGE — Dixie Leigh Hutchinson passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, surrounded by her family at Sussman House in Rockport. She was born March 14, 1960, at the Knox Hospital in Rockland to Ramona Johnson and Winston (Rudy) Pease Jr. She lived in Clark Island for most of her life, other than the nine years she lived in South Carolina with her extended family. Many of the island's children would visit with Dixie and have a popsicle, and for sure, candy. She worked as a waitress at the Craignair Inn for many years, was a licensed cosmetologist and taught students. She worked as a sternwoman with her dad and John Crane IV, she most recently worked at Pen Bay Medical Center in medical distribution. Dixie enjoyed spending time on Clark Island beach, playing with her grandsons, listening to her son Jeremy play his guitar, going to Brett's basketball games, baking, cooking, creating recipes with her sister, Mel, being with her great-nieces and her nephews, gardening, loving on her cat, Emily, feeding and watching the birds. She always looked forward to her dad's visiting on Sunday and going up the road to hang out with her mom. Dixie also loved making crafts. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Hutchinson; grandson Gavin Sherbert; and stepfather Gene Johnson. She is survived by her children, Brett Hutchinson and Jeremy Sherbert; mother Ramona Johnson; father Winston (Rudy) Pease and stepmom Janice Pease; sister Melony Cushman and her husband, Randy; sisters Renee Johnson, Ronda Schwab and her husband, Brett; niece Breanna Cushman; nephews,Nathaniel Cushman, Dakota Elwell and Hayden Schwab. The family thanks everybody at Sussman House for being so kind and loving to Dixie and her family and friends. There will be a time of remembrance and celebration of Dixie's life Friday, Aug. 31, at her home in Clark Island from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
