Obituary of Leo J Plourde

Caribou - Leo Joseph Plourde passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Eastern Maine Medical Center on November 24, 2017. He was born on March 28, 1938 in Eagle Lake, son of the late Ernest and Laura (Madore) Plourde. He worked in the woods prior to moving to Connecticut and marrying the love of his life on June 24, 1961 and starting a family. He retired from H.O. Penn Machinery after twenty years of service and returned home. He later retired from the Caribou School Department and continued to work harvest each year with his favorite farmers. He was a devoted husband and family man who always put his family’s needs first. He enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage, word puzzles, country music, playing guitar, helping others and most of all, spending time and eating meals with his family and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife of nearly 52 years, Beverly (Martin) Plourde. He was a loving father survived by two daughters, Laura Ann Hartl and husband Gregory of Coventry, CT and Annette Marie Voisine and husband Francis of Eagle Lake, ME. He is survived by three very special grandchildren; Karlie, Nicole and Michaela. His first grandchild, Jeremy, passed away many years ago and also held a special place in his heart. He is survived by his brothers; Alphie Plourde of North Carolina and Ernest Plourde of Maine, and sisters; Eva Post of Texas, Edna Saucier of Maine and Alice Martin of Connecticut as well as many special nieces, nephews and special friend Jean Morin and her family. He was predeceased by his brothers; Edford, Edward, Guilford, Camille, Roland and sisters, Annette, Annie, and close friend George Morin. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. December 16 at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Eagle Lake. Spring burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Eagle Lake, ME.
