Obituary of Ed Rodgers

Ed Rodgers, 90, of Poughkeepsie NY passed on peacefully at MDI Hospital in Bar Harbor Maine on March 18, 2017. Ed was born to Alva Edison and Lorene Kraemer Rodgers on April 18, 1926 in Ft. Worth, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, their infant son William, and his brother Jack. He is survived by his three children and their families, Brandt and Elizabeth (Gregory) Rodgers and their children Zachary (and his wife, Elizabeth Piggott Rodgers) and Lauren of Hyde Park NY; Joanne Rodgers Foster of Al Ain, UAE; Linda Rodgers and Stephen Brown of Bar Harbor ME, and their sons Taylor (Baltimore MD) and Jordan (Ft. Drum NY). Ed was a veteran of the Pacific Theater in WWII, and served in Germany during the Korean War. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, and was an engineer for IBM for 40 years. He married Ruth Marilyn Brands on Feb. 26, 1955, and they moved to Poughkeepsie in 1957. Ed, fondly known as Papa Bear, loved his family, close friends, travel, gardening, birds, and a good football game. At Ed’s request, no services will be held.
