Obituary of Elsie Nason

JONESPORT ELSIE L. NASON passed away peacefully on March 3, 2017 at Sunrise Care Facility in Jonesport. She was born on April 23, 1928 in Machias to Harvey Hall and Florence (Ellsmore) Hall. Elsie graduated in 1945 from Machias Memorial High School. She enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, camping, puttering in her flower garden, picnics, Sunday rides, cookouts and riding up trail in the ATV. She loved working in the 5 & 10 in her younger years and still reminisces about it many years later. She loved children and enjoyed working in the day care. She also loved playing cards with the girls, Cindy and Jennifer. She loved her family and friends dearly and will be sorely missed. She was predeceased by her husband, Sanford Nason Sr., her mother and father, brother Edgar Hall and her son-in-law Stephen Berry Sr. She is survived by her two sons, Sanford Nason Jr. and his wife Debbie of Machias, and Stephen Nason of Columbia Falls; two daughters Marlene Berry of Machias and Melanie Nason and partner Leroy Schoppee of Machias. Also survived by her brother Shirley Hall of Hermon and sisters Ida Cates of Bangor, Arlene Seavey of East Machias and Regina Hall of Kennebec, and her step-mother Sonya Hall of Kennebec. She also will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Jeremy Nason, Kimberly Nason, Shaina Tibbets, Niomi Tipton and her husband Andy, Stephen Berry Jr. and his wife Willow, Zachary Nason and his partner Keight Metzler. She was survived by 14 great-grandchildren and 15 nieces and nephews. She will also be sadly missed by Ron and Pam Gandy and family. A graveside service will be announced in the spring at Longfellow Cemetery in Machias. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to The Ark Animal Shelter, PO Box 276, Cherryfield, Maine 04622.
