Obituary of Alfred Harmon

Alfred James Harmon, 75, of Biddeford, ME passed away peacefully, December 10, 2016 at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough where he truly enjoyed being a resident. He was born in Standish, ME on March 25, 1941 to George and Elizabeth (Hall) Harmon. After school, Al enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September, 1958, and served as a Machinist on the USS Lake Champlain CVS 39 until 1962. After an honorable discharge from the US Navy, he worked as a welder for many years until he retired at D & G Machine. Al was well-known for his cowboy hat and boots. He loved to dance to country music with his wife Bonnie, and spend time taking trips with his family. Al was a friend of Bill W. for 26 years, sharing his experience, strength, and hope with others. Al was predeceased by his parents, his sister Beverly Bradeen, and a late wife and mother of his children, Nancy (Chaplin) Harmon. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of many years, Bonnie, his children, Brenda Pulcifur, Elizabeth Hummell, and her husband Jerry, James Harmon and his partner Julie, Lori and Ken Grover, Scott and Janine Dumeny, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and sister, Gertrude LaPierre, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough, from 2 – 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Maine Veterans Home, 290 US Route #1, Scarborough, ME 04074 “in honor of Alfred Harmon”.
