Obituary of Ronald Lee Tibbetts

Benton: Ronald Lee Tibbetts, 84 passed on to be with the Lord on December 8, 2016. He was surrounded by his devoted children. He was diagnosed with Sarcoid mesothelioma, it took his life less than 6 weeks from his diagnosis. He was born on April 23, 1932, the son of Virgil Tibbetts and Rita (DiNardi) Tibbetts. He graduated from Williams High School in Waterville. He was a Veteran in the U.S Navy aboard the USS Beatty DD 756, He served in the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1956. He attended courses at Thomas College, Ronald was a lifelong learner. He was a loving, supportive and devoted father. He always had comforting words, witty humor or humorous sarcasm to share. He loved to tell stories of his worldwide travels. He was never without a little Ditties to share. His greatest joy was time with his family. His love for his children shined from his heart. The profound loss of him is too large to comprehend. We let ourselves cry knowing that each tear is note of love to Heaven. Not a day will go by that we will not miss him. In 1980, he married the love of his life Marilyn West. Their two hearts became one, the ribbon of love that they shared could not be severed, not even by her death in 2008. He gave his heart to the Lord, we seek comfort in knowing that he is without pain and suffering. He was a member of the Centerpoint Community Church. Special Thanks to Pastor Craig Riportella for helping to lead our father on his spiritual journey. Ronald was the Chief Engineer at the Waterville Osteopathic hospital for 25 years prior to his retirement. He was an associate Real Estate salesman for Dean Nason Realtors. He served several terms as Selectman Tax Assessor and overseer of the poor in the town of Sidney. He also served as Vice President of the West River Road Fire Department, the Industrial Development committee and was on the Formation Committee of SAD 47 School system. He was a member of the New England Hospital Engineers Society, and The National Fire Protection Association. He served as Director and Treasurer on the Kennebec Valley disaster Committee. He was a member of the VFW Winslow. He served as councilman of the Town of Winslow. He was a member of the new Elementary school building, and Fairness hearing board. He served on the Zoning Board of Appeals, organized and chaired on the Building Review Committee. He lived a good life, loving his children. He was a man of wisdom, there wasn’t anything that he couldn’t do. As in life, he gave of himself, working hard to support his family. He was predeceased by his wife Marilyn West, his parents Virgil Tibbetts, and Rita (DiNardi) Tibbetts. His sister Lita Poulin, Brother in law, Charles Philbrick and his great granddaughter Kayla Fletcher. The mother of his children, Joan (Poulin) Kane. He is survived by his sister Paula Wing, her husband David. His only son, Anthony Tibbetts and his wife Sandra. His daughters, Tina Fletcher, her husband Scott, Judy Hall, her husband Michael , Lisa Scully and her husband Jim, and Lori Meredith as well as his sister in law, Rae Philbrick. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He is survived by Dominic Tibbetts, his partner Laura lee, , Jessica Carter, her partner Josh Bragdon, Joy Owens, husband Jevon, Stephanie Joyce ,husband Terry , and Melissa Beaulieu, husband Steven, Joseph Church, wife Alaina, and Megan Macfarland. He is also survive by Stephen, Kaitlyn and Mercedes Meredith. His great grandchildren, Riley Hanson, Mason Carter, Colton Carter, Piper Lynn Carter, Vincent Tibbetts, Nolan Owens, Gabriella Owens, Keegan Church, Gavin Gervais, and Noah Beaulieu. His only niece Jodi Godin, and Nephews Brian Philbrick and Steven Philbrick. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Robin Brown for her loving care of our father. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Oakgrove Nursing home for caring for our father in his last days, special thank you to Darcie, Dana, Luke, James and Rhonda for going the extra mile in honoring our fathers’ wishes. He held so many dear to his heart, it would be impossible to name them all individually. Thank you to the MaineGeneral Hospice staff, we appreciate your kindness. So on this day, we say good bye to our father, Life will never be the same Dad. We will watch for signs from heaven to offer comfort for the loss of you, We will love you Forever and one day. . . and yes dad , we love you More. At his request there will be no visiting hours. Cremation will take place at Direct Cremation of Maine in Belfast. Graveside services with military honors will take place on December 20, 2016 at 1:00 pm, at the new VA cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta Maine.
