Obituary of Elizabeth H. Hatch

BELFAST ELIZABETH H. HATCH, 86 of Belfast, loving mother, aunt, sister and grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born in Vermont on March 9, 1929 to Benjamin and Iva Teague and moved to Maine as a young child. She attended Belfast area schools and was a graduate of Crosby High School, Class of 1948. She married James G. Hatch, Sr. in 1950 and together they raised four children at Head of the Tide. She served her community as a member of MSAD #34 school board and along with her family made many lasting friendships over her years at the Yankee Clipper Motel. She enjoyed family game nights and lobster feeds, gardening, bowling and bird watching. She was happiest when surrounded by her family. Fondly remember her as you take in an ocean view or visit a lighthouse. She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers Robert, Raymond, and Tommy; her sister Madeline and many other cherished family and friends. She is survived by her four children, James G. Hatch Jr, Lauren J. Boehmer and her husband Timothy, Thelma J.H. Nelligan and her husband Thomas, Heidi J. H. McFadden and her husband Michael; nine grandchildren, Megan Hatch Rinko, Matthew Hatch, Lilah, Caitlin, and Michael McFadden; Lexi and Ambrosia Nelligan; and Jacob and Jaqueline Boehmer. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren Ethan Rinko and Noni LaFortune and the extended Dutch and Vermont families. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff at Tall Pines and Dr. James C. Delehanty and staff for their compassionate care and support. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 11th at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Julie B. Dutch Marriner Scholarship Fund, c/o Maine Community Foundation, 245 Main Street, Ellsworth, ME 04605 or the Scholarship Fund at Waldo County YMCA in memory of Larry Dutch.
