Obituary of Roy M. Dow

CHINA: Roy M. Dow, Jr., passed away May 29, 2016 in Waterville. Born March 31, 1930 in Augusta, Maine to the late Roy M. Dow, Sr. and Emma Natalie (Monk) Dow, he was a graduate of Cony High School in 1948. He married Carolyn James in 1950 in China, Maine. Mr. Dow was a self employed heavy equipment construction contractor. In 1961, he built The China General Store and operated it for 13 years. Roy was a sixty-four year member of the Masonic Lodges. Mr. Dow is predeceased by his sister Ina Dow who died when she was a young child, his parents, his in-laws Thomas and Marie James and his son-in-law Gene Pierce. Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Carolyn Dow of China; his children, Laura Pierce of China, Susan White and husband Carrol of China, Jimmy Dow and wife Crystal of China, Jane Glidden and husband Rodny of Palermo, and Roberta Dionne and husband Scott of California; his twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and his sister-in-law Linda Lawrence and husband Robert. Graveside services will be 1:00 pm, Saturday June 4, 2016 at China Village Cemetery Extension, Neck Road, China. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roy’s name to the China Rescue, P.O.
